Museum
Zaanstad Amsterdam Museum is located at the river Zaan 9 km north of Amsterdam central station. On this extensive site, 16 independent industrial buildings are each dedicated to the work of one artist. The collection arises from close collaborations with outstanding artists and estates of the 20th century and our time. The installations will be permanent and embedded in the ever-changing and spacious garden with wildflowers created in 2023 by Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf.
In June 2024, 19 sculptures by American artist John Chamberlain (1927-2011) were installed in the first building. Zaanstad Amsterdam Museum is a work in progress and is scheduled to open to the public in Spring 2026.
